Build Up Your Gut Health With These 18 Foods

Chiropractic Kirkland WA Build Up a Healthy Gut

By: Dr. Michelle Irwin

Now that we have started clearing out the gut we have some choices, we can stop here and start rebuilding our system with healthy bacteria that will help us with everything from our immune system to our skin or we can take it further and move deeper into the cells of our body.

The True Cellular Detox system that we use is a 3-month process for clearing out the toxins from years of exposure deep in our cells all the way to the brain.

There are strategies for all levels of commitment that achieve amazing lasting results with a cleaner gut and liver as well as increased mental clarity and alertness. If 3 months seem like too much, we have other programs that are as short as a week.

Whatever system you do, from intermittent fasting to a full 3 months detox the results will leave you feeling better and more energetic. But when I was having a conversation with my sister last week about what happens after you do the program she asked, “Isn’t it hard to come out of it and keep those results?” Truth is, yes. If we don’t take the healthy eating choices learned during the process of clearing out our systems and go back to what we were doing before, we will be right back where we started in no time.

Healthy choices about what we eat, and drink will help keep our system cleaner so when we do another spring cleaning we will have less to clear out and we will feel all the benefits faster and hold on to them longer.

Coming out of a cleanse we need to replenish our healthy gut bacteria by starting with good prebiotics and probiotics to help with digestion, immunity, and even skin health.

Here are some easy examples of foods to start incorporating into daily life so that when you decide to do a more detailed cleanse your results will be easier to maintain.

  • Live culture yogurt
  • Kefir
  • Miso
  • Aged cheeses (60+ days)
  • Kimchi
  • Sauerkraut
  • Pickles
  • Kombucha
  • Chocolate (higher cocoa content the better)
  • Underripe banana
  • Blueberries
  • Apples
  • Dandelion greens
  • Spinach
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Leeks
  • Chia and Flax seeds

This list can be used to make everything from breakfast to dinner and are some of the best ways to break a fast if you do intermittent fasting or have been doing a longer fast for your health. Let’s have a happy and healthy gut this season!
